Baldur's Gate 3 has been an immense success this year, and here's further proof. For the month of September 2023, it almost hit the number one spot in the PS Store's PS5 download charts. The RPG is in second place on both the North American and European charts, only behind NBA 2K24 on the former and EA Sports FC 24 on the latter.
Elsewhere, Mortal Kombat 1, The Crew Motorfest, PAYDAY 3, and Lies of P are all in the top 10, making September a pretty strong month for new releases. On the PS4 charts, the same pair of sports games are at the top, but mainstays like Minecraft and Grand Theft Auto V are more in the mix.
Crossfire: Sierra Squad is number one on the PSVR2 charts, followed by Beat Saber and Pavlov VR. Finally, on the free-to-play charts, Fortnite leads the charge in both regions, with My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble, Rocket League, and Call of Duty: Warzone all vying for position.

I mean, I was saying well before the game released that it was special. It is a masterpiece that will win every single Game of the Year award, so I'm not surprised to see it selling so well. Larian deserve all the plaudits, financial recompense and awards coming their way. Very happy to see them having such success...
Had a really rough time with it in its technical performance when it launched, so I put it on hold to hopefully be patched up. Couch co-op just didn’t really work out so well, I suppose. Will return to it after I finish Mirage and Alan Wake though. I’ve heard so much positive about it that I want to enjoy it, you know?
My problems with BG3 are good problems to have. First, Act 1 is so interesting by itself that I haven't moved on, I'm still seeing how all the permutations play out. And 2, related to this, I keep making new characters because I want to try all the classes and races, etc, and see how they differ.
Loving the monk at the moment, next I want to try a bard, I think.
Not my kind of game but I can appreciate the work that was clearly put into it and would've liked to see it outsell those sports games.
Well-deserved for Baldur's gate and Lies of P. The rest is just..... sad
I’m glad PlayStation gamers support games baldur’s gate 3 deserve the success. I beat the game 3 times already.
Baldur's gate 3 and lies of p for the win.word up son
I'm so mainstream, just a complete sheep, as I only bought BG3 and FC24 last month 😅
And now I will never buy anything that isn't top 2 again!
So happy that BG3 has kept selling strong, though. Its just pure RPG perfection.
I really need to kick on with ACT II now. Sounds like a plan for this evening 😁
Baldur's Gate 3 and No Man's Sky have my addiction this month. Just started playing No Man's Sky, it's hard to put down, time just gets away from me whenever I play it!
I’m really looking forward to playing BG3, but have too many other games to play right now and I know that BG3 is gonna be a pretty big time sink.
BG3 took the spot of my favorite all-time game. Spent over 90 hours on my first playthrough without breaking to play anything else. I've never been as engrossed or immersed in a game.
@QuietintheCorner I guess i look at something like MK as like successful in the way that COD or any stupid football game is. Not because its good, but because some people buy games annually or iteratively merely out of the necessitation of having the current form to be with the herd, despite the games being the fundamentally more of the same and largely predatory. The sad, is that folks continue to condone such uninspired copy and paste iterations.
Whereas a game like BG3 is quite literally one of the greatest games I have ever played and i would argue one of the greatest games of all time.
What like mario??
Not my type of game but man it's great to see something like this outsell your typical ***** microtransactions.
I get the feeling this will be GOTY unless Mario manages to scoop it up at the last minute
Was never a turn base guy. BG3 changed my mind with all its awesomeness! It is simply a masterpiece of gaming. I'm just now on act 2 after spending 87 hours in act1!!!
@KundaliniRising333 MK comes out once every 4 years. Every character is given completely different moves and combos per game. Scorpion is this game for example has a entirely different moveset than his MK11 counterpart for example.
Not even close to being compared to CoD or Sports games. Fighting games have a much bigger level of complexity, it’s one of the hardest genres to become competent at overall.
